A life well-lived has come to an end, and we find ourselves reflecting on the passing of John Mc Coole, a beloved member of our community. John, who resided at 2 Glencregagh Court in Belfast and had previously called Newtownstewart home, has left us with cherished memories and a legacy of love.
His passing, on November 17th, 2025, at the Royal Victoria Hospital, has left a profound impact on those closest to him. John was the devoted husband to Maureen (née Mc Guigan), a loving father to Marian and Carol, and a cherished grandfather to Matthew and Emma. His parents, Elizabeth and Patrick Mc Coole, have also preceded him in death, and he was the brother to the late Josephine, Margaret, and Teresa.
The community will gather to pay their respects at the Oratory of Mary Mother of God in Newtownstewart on Wednesday, November 19th, at 7:30 p.m., where John's body will repose overnight. On Thursday, November 20th, at 11 a.m., a Requiem Mass will be held, followed by interment at Glenock Cemetery.
John's absence will be deeply felt by his family, including his great-grandchildren, who will forever carry the love and memories he has left behind.
As we navigate this difficult time, we find solace in the knowledge that John's spirit lives on through the love and joy he brought to those around him.
But here's where it gets controversial... In a world where death is often a taboo subject, how do we honor the lives of those we've lost? And this is the part most people miss... It's not just about the funeral rituals; it's about the impact they had on our lives and the legacy they leave behind.
St. Martin, we ask for your prayers for John's soul, and we invite our community to share their thoughts and memories in the comments below. Let's celebrate John's life and keep his memory alive.
May he rest in peace.
